Published on November 23, 2019, a devastating landslide in West Pokot has claimed 24 lives, with officials confirming the tragic loss.

West Pokot County Commissioner Apollo Okello led the rescue efforts, stating that 12 bodies, including seven children, had been recovered so far.

The landslides, triggered by hours of heavy rains, hit Nyarkulian and Parua villages, cutting off a section of the Kitale-Lodwar road near Ortum and sweeping away the Muruny Bridge.
