Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has come forward to offer assistance to the children of Caroline Kangogo, the fugitive killer cop who tragically passed away at her parents' home in Nyawa village, Elgeyo Marakwet County, on Thursday morning.

According to a police report, Kangogo's mother discovered her daughter's body inside a bathroom in the family's compound, located 40 meters from the main house.

Police investigations revealed that Kangogo might have shot herself using a firearm from below the chin, with the bullet exiting above her left ear.

At the scene, police officers found a Ceskar pistol, which was cocked with a magazine loaded with eight rounds of ammunition, as well as a used cartridge and a bullet head.

Photos taken at the scene captured Kangogo seated on the floor of the bathroom, dressed in the same clothes she wore when she shot dead her second victim, Peter Ndwinga, in a hotel room in Juja, Kiambu County, just hours after she shot dead another officer, John Ogweno, in Nakuru County.

Hours after Kangogo's body was discovered, Sonko took to his Facebook page to express his willingness to raise her two children, stating that they are innocent and should not be held accountable for their mother's actions.

He said, 'My special request to her innocent family in Elgeyo Marakwet, kama mutalemewa kusomesha au kulea watoto wake, please give them to me nikae nao nitawasomesha na kuwalea. Children are a blessing from God.'

Sonko also expressed regret that many Kenyans had judged Kangogo guilty without taking the time to listen to her side of the story, believing that she might have been embroiled in a scuffle with her two boyfriends before opting to eliminate them.

He stated, 'If the public caught with her, they would have lynched her without getting her side of the story because her case has been investigated and prosecuted through the court of public opinion. Now that she's no more, everyone is sympathizing with her.'
