This archive report was first published on 23 November 2019.

Author Joan Thatiah shares a personal story about a friend who's been deceived by a married man's words, highlighting the importance of looking beyond what he says and observing his actions.

Shee, a friend of the author, has been in a complicated relationship with a married man for five years. They have a child together, and despite their breakup, he continues to see her every other weekend, asking for sex. He claims to love her and wishes he had married her instead of his wife, but his actions speak louder than his words.

The author notes that men often lie well, knowing exactly what a woman needs to hear to keep catering to them. However, if a woman looks beyond the lies and analyzes his choice of words, she would see right through the deception.

Shee's situation is a prime example of this. Despite the man's claims of love and commitment, he has shown no indication of dissolving his marriage or taking Shee as his second wife. The author warns that women should not be fooled by empty promises and sweet talk, but rather look for what he leaves unsaid.

Shee's story is a cautionary tale about the dangers of ignoring a man's actions and focusing solely on his words. The author advises women to guard their hearts by reading between the lines and observing a man's actions, rather than just listening to what he says.

As the author so aptly puts it, 'If he isn’t making an effort to progress your relationship, you are not a priority to him, it doesn’t matter that he wants to have sex with you.'
