On November 21, 2019, K24 Head of Operations Daniel Chemjor tragically lost his life in a car accident on the Iten Kabarnet road.
Chemjor's car plunged into Cheploch Gorge in River Kerio, near the Kerio Valley Bridge, after rolling several times.
His wife had given birth via a CS earlier that day, and Chemjor was on his way to see her when the accident occurred.
Elgeyo Marakwet Commissioner Ahmed Omar suggested that Chemjor might have been over speeding, which led to the loss of control and the accident.
KTN TV presenter Zubeida Kananu, who had previously worked with Chemjor, paid tribute to him on social media, saying:
‘@danielchemjor still waiting for someone to report that what is being said about you is fake news….??? my heart has refused to believe that you’re no more…I mean, how????,’
The car and Chemjor's body were retrieved from the gorge at around 11:45 am on Thursday.
