On November 21, 2019, the body of Eric Oloo, a journalist with the Star newspaper, was found dead at the home of Inspector Sabina Kerubo, the Deputy OCS at Ugunja police station in Siaya county.
According to Area OCPD Ibrahim Muchuma, three people have been arrested in connection with Oloo's murder, which is currently under investigation.
Muchuma confirmed that Oloo's body had three deep cuts on the head and that he was found dead at Kerubo's house, which is located just a few meters behind the police station.
Neighbours reported that Oloo had suspected Kerubo of dating another man and had confronted him two weeks prior to his death.
When Oloo returned to Kerubo's house on the night of his death, he found her with yet another man, and a confrontation ensued, resulting in Oloo's fatal beating.
As investigations continue, questions are being raised about Kerubo's infidelity and whether it played a role in Oloo's murder.
