Floyd Mayweather Rules Out Rematch with Manny Pacquiao ¶
Published on November 21, 2019
Retired American boxer Floyd Mayweather has made it clear that he will not be returning to the ring for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.
Since his victory over Conor McGregor in 2017, Mayweather has not fought any professional fights, instead opting for lucrative exhibition bouts.
According to Mayweather, his decision to retire was final, and he has been making more money through exhibitions than he would have in professional fights.
"I've got calls to get back into the ring, but my health is my wealth.. Boxing is a very, very brutal sport. In the last few years a lot of fighters have died inside that squared circle," Mayweather said in a statement.
Mayweather, who was never defeated in his professional career, has been enjoying a successful post-boxing career, with exhibition fights earning him between $10m and $30 million.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao, who is still active in the sport, is set to face established boxers in 2020, including Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia.
