Published on November 21, 2019, Hannah Mugure, the 75-year-old mother of former KDF soldier Major Peter Mugure, has spoken out about her shock and grief over discovering her son had children with the late Joyce Syombua.
According to Hannah, her son was a private person who kept to himself, with no close friends. She recalled that he was more interested in reading books than socializing.
Major Mugure first introduced Syombua to his family in 2005, telling his mother that he planned to marry her once he completed his education. However, Hannah claims she never met Syombua's children, Shanice and Prince Michael, and was unaware of their existence until recently.
'In 2005, he came with Joyce and told me once he cleared school he would marry her, he told me he had spoken to her mother at the time,' Hannah said in an interview with Citizen TV. 'I am feeling very oppressed when I hear that my son had kids with Syombua, I had never met Shanice or Prince Michael. No one ever told me anything.'
Major Mugure is currently being detained as investigations into Syombua's death continue. The family of the late Joyce Syombua and her children are yet to be laid to rest.
