Published on November 20, 2019, reports have emerged about the salary of Kanze Dena, the State House Spokesperson and former Citizen Swahili news anchor.

According to the reports, Ms. Dena takes home a salary of Sh. 800,000 per month, a fourfold increase from her previous job at Royal Media Group's Citizen TV.

Her salary at State House is not inclusive of bonuses and allowances, which could bring the total to Sh. 1 million or more.

Ms. Dena's appointment as State House Spokesperson in June 2018 marked a significant career milestone for the seasoned television news anchor.

With a broadcasting career spanning multiple stations, including KBC and Citizen TV, Ms. Dena has faced criticism for lacking depth in her communication, a challenge she has been working to address since her appointment.

As Deputy State House Spokesperson and Deputy Head of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU), Ms. Dena was tasked with focusing on the President's brand positioning, media relations, and messaging with respect to the delivery of the Big Four agenda.
