On November 19, 2019, a rare moment of unity was witnessed in the Kenyan parliament when Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa met in person.
Days of online jabs and political rallies came to an end as the two MPs shook hands and shared words, with Arati even returning Barasa's signature maroon cap that was stolen during an altercation in Kibra.
Barasa was seen chatting with Jubilee leaders when Arati walked up and shook his hand, holding it tightly for a few seconds.
However, the scene took a dramatic turn when rowdy individuals roughed up Barasa, slapping him several times and shoving him. Arati quickly came to his defense, protecting Isiolo Women Rep Rehema Jaldesa when the attackers turned their attention to her.
Arati denied unleashing goons on Barasa, claiming that he was the one who saved him from the mob after word spread that they were bribing voters.
