Kenya Newspapers Review: Girls Outshine Boys in KCPE 2019

Girls outshone boys in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams, with four girls emerging among the top five performers. The exams were conducted by the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec).

According to The Star, Shule ya Msingi ya Damacrest was the top-performing school, with Michael Andy Munyiri emerging as the top student with a score of 440. The school's performance was a significant improvement from previous years.

Other newspapers, including The Standard and Daily Nation, reported on the performance of students in the KCPE exams. The Standard noted that private schools outperformed public schools, with four students from private schools emerging among the top five performers. Daily Nation reported that the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) had released the results of the KCPE exams, with 9,770 students scoring 401 and above.

Meanwhile, Taifa Leo reported on a case of four students from Shule ya Upili ya Kanyawanga who were arrested for attempting to sneak into a girls' school. The students were caught by police after they were found with two phones that were suspected to have been used to communicate with the girls.

People Daily reported on a statement by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) that only 1.4 million out of 47 million Kenyans are opposed to corruption. The commission's chairman, Dabar Maalim, called on the government to take action against corruption.

On a separate note, the US government has announced plans to ban Amos Wako from entering the country due to corruption allegations.
