November 19, 2019 - Glovo, a leading on-demand delivery service, continues to grow its presence in Kenya, expanding its services beyond food delivery to include laundry, alcohol, and pharmacy.

The company has partnered with local retailers and restaurants to offer a wide range of products, including household items and food, to customers in Nairobi and other parts of the country.

According to Priscilla Muhiu, Glovo's head of marketing, the company plans to leverage Kenya's high smartphone penetration to boost its growth.

'We hope to leverage the high level of smartphone penetration in Kenya to boost our growth,' Muhiu said.

Glovo has received significant investment from Lakestar and Drake, which has enabled the company to expand its operations in Africa and hire more tech experts to improve its services.

The company plans to use the funding to expand its footprint across Sub-Saharan Africa, with new operations in Ghana, Nigeria, and Tanzania.

Glovo is also looking to expand beyond food delivery to include laundry, alcohol, and pharmacy, with the aim of becoming a lifestyle app that offers essential services beyond delivery.

The company is building dark stores to facilitate expansion into these new products, dedicating distribution solely to online demand.

Finally, Glovo is piloting 'cook rooms' in Spain, looking to expand into dark kitchens globally, which will help its partners cater to orders in an efficient way.
