On November 19, 2019, Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko announced that the refurbished Narok Stadium would be renamed William ole Ntimama Stadium.
The decision was made after leaders from the Maasai community proposed the name change to the government.
According to Tobiko, the late Ntimama was a hero of the Maasai people and deserved to be honored.
"The request by the Maasai community leaders to have the Narok Stadium renamed in honor of William ole Ntimama has been accepted by the government," said Tobiko.
The unveiling of the new name would be done by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed.
