On November 14, 2019, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) released the results of the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.

Michael Andy Munyiri from Damacrest Primary School in Kiambu County emerged as the top performer, scoring 440 out of 500.

He was followed closely by Flavian Onyango, June Cheptoo Koech, and Michael Ndungu, who all scored 439.

The results were announced by Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof. George Magoha, at the Kenya National Examinations Council headquarters in Nairobi.

Prof. Magoha stated that the number of cheating cases during the exams had significantly decreased, and that the candidates who sat for the exams would receive their rightful results.

He also emphasized that the government had strengthened measures to prevent cheating and had put in place more effective strategies to combat the issue.

According to Prof. Magoha, a total of 1,088,986 candidates sat for the 2019 KCPE exams, which is an increase from the 1,052,364 candidates who sat for the exams in 2018.

The results were released just a few days after the exams were concluded, marking a significant improvement from previous years when the results were released weeks or even months after the exams.

However, the release of the results was marred by the tragic loss of three invigilators who died while on duty during the exams.
