Ngina Kenyatta, a director of The Kenyatta Trust, recently spoke at the African Philanthropy Forum, where she emphasized the importance of youth empowerment.
On Saturday, November 16, 2019, Ngina addressed the forum, whose theme was 'Accelerating Youth Employment in Africa.'
She challenged young people to acquire skills that address specific needs in their communities, rather than relying on handouts.
"It is a pleasure for me to be part of a forum discussing such an important issue that affects us throughout the continent. There's a saying, give a man a fish and feed him for one day, show him how to fish and feed him for a lifetime," Ngina said.
The Kenyatta Trust, a non-profit organization, supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds, with a current beneficiary population of over 450.
Ngina's speech has sparked controversy, with some Kenyans questioning her role in youth empowerment.
