On November 2, a violent street fight erupted in Soweto Estate, Nairobi, leaving a pedestrian seriously injured.

According to reports, a 37-year-old mechanic, George Ochieng Okello, had hurled a stone at a different person outside the complainant's house, but unfortunately, it hit Benson Waititu, who was alighting from a matatu on his way home.

Waititu was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital in Kayole by a bodaboda rider while unconscious and later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital.

Okello denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji on Friday at Makadara law courts.

He was granted a bond of Sh200,000 with a surety of similar amount and an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000. The hearing of the case is set to begin on March 17 next year.
