On November 16, 2019, Sony revealed its Android 10 update roadmap, providing much-needed clarity for its smartphone users.
The Japanese tech giant has confirmed that its latest flagship smartphones, the Xperia 1 and Xperia 5, will be the first to receive the Android 10 update in December. This marks an important milestone for Sony, as it continues to support its devices with the latest software.
Other devices, including the Xperia 10, Xperia 10 Plus, Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ2 Premium, and Xperia XZ3, will receive their Android 10 updates in the new year.
However, users of the Xperia XZ1 series may be disappointed to learn that their devices will likely not receive further major operating system updates. Launched in August 2017, the series is well past its standard 2-year support window, and it may be time to expect the inevitable.
