Published on June 25, 2020, a chilling CCTV footage emerged showing two men robbing a pedestrian in Kilimani, Nairobi.
The victim, a well-clad man, was ambushed by two thugs wearing hoodies and masks while walking on the sidewalk carrying a black backpack.
The robbers, one wielding a gun and the other a knife, took the victim's bag and went through his pockets without any resistance.
One of the thugs still hit the victim on his face with the gun as the other held a knife to his chest.
The heinous activity lasted less than 10 seconds.
Responding to the incident, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said they had commenced investigations and thanked the public for sharing the footage.
“Detectives based at Kilimani are in receipt of this footage and have commenced investigations to bring the culprits to book. Thank you for sharing this,” DCI said.
When contacted, Kilimani Sub-county Police Commander Lucas Ogara confirmed that the victim had not reported the incident, but investigations had begun.
Notably, this incident comes on the heels of a similar case last week where police officers arrested two armed robbers terrorizing joggers in Kileleshwa and Muthangari areas.
