On Thursday, Tryphoinber Simiyu, 25, appeared before senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji to deny charges of defiling a 15-year-old girl.
According to the prosecution, Simiyu met the minor in January and began a romantic relationship with her. However, when he asked her age, she allegedly lied and told him she was 18 and in Form 3.
Simiyu later invited the girl to his rented house in Lungalunga slums, Nairobi, where they lived together as husband and wife from June 1 to November 10, when she was rescued.
Neighbours had reported their suspicions to the village chairperson, who in turn informed the police, leading to Simiyu's arrest.
He was freed on a Sh300,000 bond with a surety of similar amount and the case will be heard from March 16 next year.
