StanChart, Telkom Launch Customized Bundle for Kenyan Users ¶
On May 4, 2021, Standard Chartered Bank (StanChart) and Telkom Kenya announced a partnership dubbed 'Omoka Vinoma' that offers a customized bundle to Telkom pre-paid subscribers.
The bundle, which is exclusive to the Kenyan market, provides 100% cashback on all transactions for a period of three months when customers open a current account from StanChart. Additionally, customers will receive a one-month Showmax Pro Mobile subscription with access to premium streaming content, including live sports events and local news channels.
With this bundle, customers will also have access to four free rides a month with a value of up to Sh. 260 each from Bolt, a leading ride-hailing app. StanChart will reimburse transaction costs incurred by customers during the three-month campaign that ends on July 31, 2021.
Eric Achola, Director for Marketing at Telkom, said, 'Telkom is focused on bringing innovative products and solutions to the Kenyan market. Our partnership with StanChart will address our customers' communication, financial, and entertainment needs during this period.'
Edith Chumba, Head of Consumer, Private and Business Banking at StanChart Kenya and EA, added that the bundle offers an optimal mix of work and play, providing easy access to online channels and efficient banking services through the SC Mobile App.
Stephen Riome, Chief Expansion Officer at Multichoice Connected Video, noted that Showmax Pro Mobile subscribers will have access to everything on Showmax, including live sports from SuperSport.
Users can open an account with StanChart directly on the SC Mobile App in 15 minutes, leveraging the bank's significant investment in digital banking tools and systems.
