Published on November 13, 2019, the National Police Service Commission has identified three of the four police officers captured on video assaulting a student from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology.

Constables Kibet Chemipei, Boniface Muthama, and George Wathania, along with another officer yet to be identified, were filmed beating a JKUAT student who was lying helpless on the ground.

The commission's chairman, Eluid Kinuthia, explained that the identification of the fourth officer is taking longer due to the angle of the footage, which did not capture his face.

Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai had announced on Tuesday that the four officers had been interdicted to pave the way for investigations, but did not release any names.

According to Mutyambai, an investigation by the Internal Affairs Unit will lead to recommendations for disciplinary actions against the officers.
