On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, Inspector General of police Hilary Mutyambai announced on Twitter that the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) would investigate a viral video showing Allan Omondi being brutally beaten by police units.
The IAU has been tasked with making recommendations for action within 24 hours.
Earlier, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i had condemned the brutal force used by the officers on Twitter.
Member of Parliament for Embakasi East constituency, Babu Owino, had written to both the IG and CS on November 11, 2019, asking for immediate action against the police officers involved.
