On November 10, 2019, a heated exchange between Eintracht Frankfurt's David Abraham and Freiburg's coach Christian Streich marred the end of a Bundesliga match at Schwarzwald-Stadion.
As the match neared its end, Abraham went to retrieve a ball that had gone out of play, but instead of moving around Streich, he inexplicably barged into the German manager, sending him to the ground.
The incident sparked chaos in the stadium as both sets of teams confronted each other before match officials intervened.
Referee Felix Brych had no choice but to hand Abraham a red card for his moment of madness, forcing the visitors to see out the last minutes of the match with 10 men.
Abraham's actions were widely condemned, with Frankfurt's sporting director, Fredi Bobic, stating that the defender 'felt provoked, but that shouldn’t happen … he knows that.'
There will be consequences for everyone involved, Bobic added.
