On November 9, 2019, NTV Kenya reported on a robbery incident in Kasarani where a shop was robbed and one man was shot.
According to sources close to the investigation, the shooter is an ex-convict who was recently released from Kamiti Maximum Prison.
Two victims, Ulbanus Mutua and his close friend Richard Muema, were shot during the incident. Muema was shot seven times after trying to secure Mutua, who had been shot twice.
Both victims are currently receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital, with Muema in the Intensive Care Unit and Mutua in a stable condition.
The DCI had launched a manhunt for the two suspects just hours before the identification, stating that detectives had commenced investigations to bring all those involved to book.
