Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will face off at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at 3pm. The highly anticipated Mashemeji Derby promises to be an intense encounter between the two teams.
According to the host club, Gor Mahia, 22,000 regular and 1,000 VIP tickets have been printed for the match. A regular ticket will retail at Sh200, while each VIP ticket costs Sh500. The tickets will go on sale from 9am outside Safari Park, Ngomongo Police Station, Roysambu roundabout, and at the match venue outside gates 12 and 2.
Gor Mahia coach Steven Polack exuded confidence ahead of the game, stating that his team has had good sessions since Thursday and is content with the level they are at. This will be his first Mashemeji Derby since taking charge of Gor Mahia in August.
Polack also revealed that left back Geoffrey Ochieng will return to the team after missing the 1-0 loss to Mathare United on Wednesday, but right back Wellington Ochieng will be out due to injury. Bernard Ondiek, a naturally midfield player, could be slotted in his place.
AFC Leopards team manager Tom Juma expressed his team's eagerness to slay the champions on Sunday, stating that they respect Gor Mahia but do not fear them. Juma also revealed that his team has finalized their preparations and is now ready for the game, with their target being to win.
