Published on June 15, 2021, a court order has frozen several properties associated with businessman Peter Muriithi, the owner of Goldenscape Ltd, over claims of money laundering.
High Court judge James Wakiaga issued the order, barring Muriithi and his companies, including Goldenscape Trees Africa Limited, Goldenscape Greenhouse Limited, and Silverstone Properties Limited, from transferring several parcels of land in Ngong and Rumuruti in Laikipia County.
Five parcels of land are registered under Muriithi's name in Ndarumo, while ten others are under Silverstone in Ngong and another registered under Goldenscape Group.
The court also barred Muriithi from transferring or selling five motor vehicles and six motorcycles.
Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) moved to court seeking to prohibit Muriithi and his companies from transferring the properties, pending the determination of a case the agency has filed.
ARA suspects the properties are proceeds of crime and has urged the court to issue preservation orders to prevent Muriithi and his associates from dealing with the properties.
