William Ruto Congratulates Imran Okoth on Kibra Win

Deputy President William Ruto has congratulated Imran Okoth on his win in the Kibra by-election, but warned ODM of upcoming battles.

Imran Okoth, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate, won the election with 24,636 votes, followed by McDonald Mariga of Jubilee who got 11,230 votes.

On November 8, 2019, DP Ruto tweeted, "Pongezi Benard Okoth kwa ushindi wako Kibra. Pongezi Mariga. Wapinzani wetu walishuka kutoka asilimia 78 (2047) hadi 52. Walipata kiti lakini tumewapa notisi,"

However, his win was short-lived as he was declared the winner before the results were officially announced by the IEBC.

Mariga took the second position with 11,230 votes and accepted defeat before the official results were announced.

Other leaders who congratulated Imran Okoth on his win include Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.
