On November 8, 2019, Tanzanian music producer S2Kizzy faced allegations of copyright infringement over Diamond's hit song 'Baba Lao'.
The song, which was produced by S2Kizzy, was accused of copying Nigerian artist Naira Marley's 'Soapy'.
In an exclusive interview with Wasafi FM, S2Kizzy revealed that the project had been in the works for a while and that they had sought copyright rights from Naira Marley.
According to S2Kizzy, the inspiration for 'Baba Lao' came when they were watching TV in Madagascar and saw Naira Marley's 'Soapy' music video.
They were inspired by the song's vibe and decided to create a similar song, but with their own twist.
S2Kizzy emphasized that Diamond is a big artist who is familiar with copyright issues and would not intentionally plagiarize another artist's work without official communication.
Despite the allegations, 'Baba Lao' has been a success for Diamond and S2Kizzy.
