On November 7, 2019, a brazen robbery took place in Nairobi's Central Business District, leaving a Saturday Nation editor shaken.

According to the victim, Jackson Mutinda, he had just left work at around 9pm and was heading towards Bus Station when he realized he didn't have enough cash for his bus fare.

He walked towards Kencom to find an ATM and withdraw some money. 'The street was deserted, and I could only see one or two people trying to rush to their various destinations,' Mr. Mutinda told Nairobi News.

As he exited the ATM lobby, four men suddenly pounced on him, pinning him to a corner with a gun pressed to his stomach.

One of the thugs ordered him to surrender the money he had withdrawn, which he had put in his wallet. 'They stalked me from the ATM and it seems they were waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack me,' Mr. Mutinda narrated.

The robbers also took his wristwatch and iPhone but returned his ATM, ID, and insurance cards, along with Sh50 as 'bus fare.'
