On October 17, 2019, a security guard, Evans Emongura Ocholi, visited his former employer, George Ndonga Sirro, at Solar Trends Company Limited in Nairobi's Industrial Area to claim his unpaid wages.

However, Sirro, who had fired Ocholi, allegedly assaulted him, accusing him of stealing from him. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions at Makadara Law Courts had previously rejected Sirro's allegations against Ocholi for lack of evidence.

According to reports, Sirro accosted Ocholi at the company's reception, claiming he had no permission to set foot in the premises. The two men fell down during a scuffle, and Sirro attempted to frogmarch Ocholi out of the premises.

Fortunately, a colleague intervened and rescued Ocholi from Sirro, who was strangling him. Sirro later smashed Ocholi on the metallic gates before kicking him out, leaving him with sustained injuries on his spine.

Ocholi reported the matter at Industrial Area Police Station and sought treatment at a clinic in Kayole.

On November 6, 2019, Sirro was charged before Makadara chief magistrate Heston Nyaga and denied the charges. He was released on a cash bail of Sh 10,000, with the hearing of the case set to start on March 11, 2020.
