On November 5, 2019, a disturbing video emerged of Ugandan police officers brutally assaulting opposition leader Kiiza Besigye.
The officers, reportedly under the command of Senior Superintend of Police (SSP) Rashid Agero, smashed the windscreen of Besigye's car with the butt of their guns and sprayed pepper spray inside the vehicle.
Besigye's vehicle was extensively damaged before being towed away, and the opposition leader was eventually arrested and detained at a Kampala Police Station on charges of 'inciting violence.'
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning the brutal actions of the police officers.
