Argentine boxing legend Leonardo Javier Gonzalez has died in a car crash in Buenos Aires province, Argentina, on November 3, 2019.

Gonzalez, a former WBO Latino Champion, rose to the peak of his career between 1995 and 2013, with 20 professional bouts and a record of 15-5-0, including five knockouts.

He claimed the WBO Latino Champion title in 1997 by beating Colombian Brinatty Maquilon.

According to reports, Gonzalez was a passenger in the car that crashed into barriers, and the identity of the driver has not been disclosed.

Footage of the incident showed the car was out of control before crashing into a barrier.

The boxing fraternity has been plunged into mourning following the news of Gonzalez's death.
