Published on November 5, 2019, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has called on Kenyans to remember the mastermind behind the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal, Deputy President William Ruto.
Waiguru emphasized that despite the numerous social, political, and economic issues facing the nation, it is essential to hold Ruto accountable for his alleged role in the scandal.
She pointed out that Ruto's involvement in the scandal, which resulted in the loss of over Ksh. 9 billion, should not be swept under the carpet.
Waiguru urged Ruto to come clean and face the charges against him, stating that only by accepting his guilt and cooperating with the authorities can he regain the trust of the millions of Kenyans whose money he allegedly misappropriated.
Waiguru also recalled how she was unfairly implicated in the scandal, with attempts to clear her name and charge one of Ruto's associates, Kipkimo Jelimo, being met with resistance from the Deputy President and his allies in Parliament.
