On October 7, a domestic dispute turned violent in Embakasi, Nairobi, when a matatu driver allegedly assaulted his wife, leaving her with serious injuries.
Jeremiah Mutua Masalai, the accused, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm before the Makadara Law Court on Monday.
According to the allegations, Masalai walked into their house at around 7pm, snatched their child from his wife, Damaris Wanza, before assaulting her.
During the altercation, he allegedly wrestled her to the ground and knocked off her three teeth before fleeing the scene.
Wanza later sought medical attention and reported the incident to the police.
Chief Magistrate Emily Ominde presided over the case, during which Masalai denied the charges.
He was released on a bond of Sh 10,000, with an alternative cash bail of Sh 30,000, and the option to commit a personal bond of Sh 50,000 to secure his freedom.
The case is set to resume on March 6, 2020.
