On November 4, 2019, a dispute arose between Kirimi Kaberia, the Sports Principal Secretary, and Nick Mwendwa, the president of Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

Kaberia stated that he has no personal issues with Mwendwa but emphasized the importance of accountability in the management of public funds.

According to Kaberia, Mwendwa should first account for the monies received by FKF from the government before being entitled to more.

Mwendwa, however, insisted that FKF has properly accounted for each dime, including the Sh244 million received to prepare Harambee Stars for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

‘If you are asked to answer 1+4, you cannot choose 4+7 and claim to have answered (the question),’ said Kaberia, emphasizing the need for truthfulness and full accountability in the management of public finances.
