On November 2, 2019, Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia and his wife, Anne, held a Kikuyu traditional wedding in Nyeri County.

The ceremony was attended by hundreds of residents and top political leaders, including Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Kamotho, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, and Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri.

Other notable guests included State House Controller Kinuthia Mbugua and Equity Bank founder Peter Munga.

Speakers at the event praised Governor Kimemia and his wife for choosing a traditional wedding, saying it was a significant contribution to the region's cultural heritage.

"There's also little doubt that Governor Kimemia is headed for a brighter future on the national scene beyond his current station," said Munga.

During his speech, Governor Kimemia called on Central Kenya residents to continue focusing on furthering development under their county governments.

"That's our shared concern right now. As your leaders, I assure you that we are keen to ensure devolution works for each one of you," he said.
