Published on November 3, 2019, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i's frequent visits to the South Nyanza region have left many wondering what exactly he is up to.
Dr. Matiang'i has made multiple tours to Homa Bay County in the past two months, calling for unity between Luo and Kisii leaders. His efforts have been supported by political leaders, who have also used the platform to endorse the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
According to Nyamira Senator Kenedy Mong'are Okong'o, the call for unity between the two Southern Nyanza communities will enable them to champion a political agenda that will transform the country's future leadership.
During his recent tour of Homa Bay County, Dr. Matiang'i made a statement that read, 'I appeal to both political leaders and the electorate in the Luo and Gusii regions to work together as members of one family. This will enable us to achieve a lot and transform our lives.'
Dr. Matiang'i's actions have raised eyebrows, with many speculating about his political ambitions. His frequent tours to Southern Nyanza, especially Homa Bay County, and his new public dalliance with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have sparked speculation about his future plans.
