Published on November 3, 2019, Levante vs Barcelona produced a surprise result as the Madrid-based side recorded a 3-1 victory over current league leaders.
Barcelona shot themselves into the lead after Nelson Semendo was brought down in the box by Jorge Miramon, allowing Lionel Messi to send the goalkeeper the wrong way and make it 1-0 to the visitors in the 38th minute.
However, Levante had a better second half and were rewarded for their persistence after Gerard Pique's poor clearance found its way to Jose Campana, who made his opportunity count to make it 1-1 a minute after the hour mark.
Two minutes later, Levante found themselves in front for the first time in the match as former Real Madrid striker Borja Mayoral was given time and space to shoot, putting his team ahead by 2-1.
Nemanja Radoja made it 3-1 in the 68th minute after his shot was deflected into the net by a Barcelona defender.
Messi thought he had pulled one back, but his goal was ruled out after his one-two with Griezmann caught the Frenchman in an offside position.
Ernesto Valverde's side suffered their third defeat of the season but remain on top of the La Liga standings until the outcome of Real Madrid and Real Betis game.
