On October 30, 2019, a section of residents in Malindi constituency vowed to recall their MP, Aisha Jumwa, following a violent scuffle between rival ODM Party supporters in Ganda Ward, Kilifi County.
According to Riziki Baya, the ODM women coordinator, the residents are tired of Ms Jumwa's actions, particularly after she caused the death of one person in a scuffle over a simple ward by-election.
Ms Baya stated, “We are tired with her, especially, after she caused the death of one of us just because of a simple ward by-election.”
The Malindi MP has been accused of using her influence to award tenders and handle the constituency development fund, with allegations of corruption and favoritism towards family members.
Former Malindi MP Wily Mtengo said that the journey for a Malindi by-election was on course, and opponents should brace for a fight.
