On August 29, President Uhuru Kenyatta honored 17 companies for their exemplary tax compliance at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi.
Among the awardees was Safaricom, the telecommunications giant that submitted Sh105.9 billion in taxes in the last year.
Other notable awardees included Premier Credit, a company that offers loans to individuals and small and medium businesses, and Living Goods Limited, which was awarded in the small player category.

- Most facilitative customer payer: Kenya Trade Network Agency
- Top importer: UDV LTD
- Top public sector agency: Teachers' Service Commission (TSC)
- Top exporter: James Finley Mombasa
- Top importer: Evergreen Logistics Company Limited
- Most facilitative government agency in tax enforcement and recovery: Kenya Defence Forces
- Top payer, Southern region: Diani Estate Limited
- Top Payer, Central region: Consolata Hospital Nyeri
- Top payer, Northern region: Dioceses of Marsabit Registered Trustees
- Top payer, Western region: Busia Sugar Industry Limited
- Top payer, North Rift region: The Noble Sacco Limited
- Top payer, South Rift region: De Ruiter East Africa Limited
President Kenyatta noted that despite the Covid-19 crisis affecting businesses last year, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) surpassed its target, with a surplus of Ksh16.8 billion.
He also revealed that ordinary revenue has more than doubled, rising from Ksh.707 billion in Financial Year 2011/12 to Ksh1.669 trillion in Financial Year 2020/21, representing a growth of 136 per cent.
