On October 17, 2019, Jane Asimizi, a female Administration Police officer stationed in Kakamega County, called for a press conference to air her grievances against her seniors.
She accused them of frustrating her by deliberately assigning her duties without allowances, and claimed that her bosses were mistreating her and ignoring her concerns.
Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai responded by sending Asimizi on a two-week compulsory leave and ordering a psychiatric evaluation.
However, the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has decided not to dismiss Asimizi from service, with chair Eliud Kinuthia stating that the commission will look into her grievances and respond accordingly.
According to Kinuthia, Asimizi has not been fired and will not be fired, and was given time off due to apparent psychological troubles.
Asimizi is expected to resume duty after her two-week leave, which was imposed on Friday, October 18, 2019.
