On October 27, 2021, OPPO held its 2021 OPPO Developer Conference (ODC) with the theme 'Building a better future together'. The event marked a significant milestone in the company's journey to create a user-centric ubiquitous service experience.

'In an ever-connected world, the number of devices and services, as well as the ways of interactions are more and more diverse. Developers need to be able to support different usage scenarios and longer operation cycles,' said Levin Liu, OPPO Vice President and President of OPPO Research Institute. 'We are dedicated to empowering our developers to face the challenges and build a better future together for our users.'

OPPO envisions a future where people and devices interact seamlessly, with enhanced visuals, efficient computing, and close connections between devices. To achieve this, the company introduced several cutting-edge technologies, including Omoji and Ray Tracing.

Revolutionizing Visuals with Omoji and Ray Tracing

OPPO's Omoji technology uses AI-driven facial recognition to capture and reproduce delicate facial expressions, creating users' avatars in the virtual world. The company has already integrated Omoji into ColorOS.

OPPO's Ray Tracing technology, built on the Vulkan API, can reproduce details in the real world and enhance the user's viewing experience. The company has concluded prototype development on mobile devices and plans to provide technology capability access to developers in the first half of 2022.

Unlocking Efficient Computing with Heterogeneous Computing

As computing needs become more constant and ubiquitous, OPPO has launched a performance and power optimisation solution called heterogeneous computing. This technology can more efficiently utilise different cores, threads, and processors, making it easier for developers to solve application performance problems and create faster, more efficient programs.

OPPO has also introduced two new businesses: OPPO Carlink and OPPO Health. OPPO Carlink enables seamless connections between smartphones and cars, allowing developers to create car-related products with ease. The company has already partnered with over 70 companies.

OPPO Health focuses on preventive medical care and lifestyle changes, driven by sensors, algorithms, data, and biomedical engineering. The company has established the OPPO Health Lab, a multi-disciplinary R&D team focusing on areas such as sleep, sports, cardiovascular health, and telemedicine.
