The Golden State Warriors' nightmare season continued on Sunday, October 27, 2019, as they suffered a crushing 28-point defeat at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, losing 120-92.
Just three days after their season-opening 141-122 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Warriors were left reeling once again, with coach Steve Kerr describing their first-half performance as 'not ready to play'.
"In the first half we didn't come out ready to play and Oklahoma City just took it to us right from the beginning," Kerr said.
The Thunder's dominant performance saw them take a 35-20 lead by the end of the first quarter and a staggering 70-37 lead by halftime, all but guaranteeing victory for coach Billy Donovan's team.
Despite a valiant effort in the second half, the Warriors were unable to mount a comeback, with Dennis Schroder leading the scoring from the bench for OKC, finishing with 22 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
Stephen Curry led the Warriors' response with 23 points, but their offense was often bullied by the Thunder's defense.
Coach Kerr remained optimistic, however, describing the second half as a 'major step forward' and a sign of incremental improvement for the team.
