On Sunday, a group of Kenyans and foreign nationals stole the show at the Standard Chartered marathon with their creative placards bearing hilarious wordings.

Photographed mainly outside Uhuru Park and on the GPO roundabout, the placards reflected real events that have been witnessed in the country in recent years.

The wordings were presumably meant to motivate the runners participating in the marathon to keep up the pace or speed up.

One placard read, 'Kip Going, Kip Going,' referencing world marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge's heroics on the tracks.

Another placard urged, 'Run like you stole NYS money,' seemingly referring to the scandals that have rocked the National Youth Service (NYS) and how most of the 'big fish' involved have managed to 'run away' from justice.

Other wordings included 'You're hot when you sweat,' 'Smile if you farted,' 'Parte After Parte, After Parte, After Parte,' 'Nikikohoa Unaitika, Lubbish,' and 'Free Beer & Sex at Finish.'
