In 2016, Elec Gaming, a subsidiary of Global Gaming 555, launched Ninja Casino, an online casino that would quickly make a name for itself in the Nordic region.

Just one year after its launch, Ninja Casino was awarded The Best Nordic Online Casino by eGaming Review, followed by another award for “Most Innovative Start-up”.

Initially, the casino focused on two markets: Sweden and Finland. However, as of the writing of this article, Ninja Casino is closed to Swedish players.

The Controversy

Ninja Casino's excessive use of advertising sparked controversy, with the casino utilizing ad spaces on every available medium, including bus stops, trains, TV commercials, radio commercials, and online ads.

Many players reported that the online casino allowed them to play above their budget, which they had set when creating their account. Additionally, players alleged that Ninja Casino offered extra bonuses to those who spent a lot of money, a practice prohibited by Spelinspektionen (Sweden's gambling commission).

In December 2018, Ninja Casino was sued for its excessive advertising, marking the first time the law of moderation in gambling advertisements was used in a Swedish trial.

Losing the Swedish Gambling License

On June 17, 2019, Ninja Casino officially lost its Swedish gambling license, and the stock took a hard fall at the stock market.

The decision was based on multiple shortcomings in their policy applications, including bonus offers, player responsibility, and control of money laundering and financing of terrorism.

Ninja Casino replied that the decision would be appealed and that they did not agree with Spelinspektionen's decision.

The Future for Global Gaming 555

After losing its license, a new casino, GoGo Casino, quickly appeared, and the stock began to recover.

GoGo Casino was introduced with a lot of advertisement, although less than its predecessor Ninja Casino.

The trial is now over, and the final decision will be made public in late November, setting a precedent for all online casinos active in Sweden.

However, gambling guides like Gambla.com will not be affected by the outcome of the trial.

Ninjacasino.com Sold

The new owner of Ninjacasino.com is Viral Interactive, which already has an online gambling license in Sweden and is reportedly looking to expand it to include the Ninja Casino brand.
