On October 8, 2019, Harambee Starlets celebrated their victory during the Olympic Qualifiers match against Black Queens of Ghana at Kasarani.
The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) will conclude the 2019 season with three regional tournaments in Uganda and Tanzania. The flagship Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup will return to Uganda after a seven-year hiatus, while Tanzania will host the Senior Women's Challenge Cup from November 14-23.
The Harambee Starlets have been drawn in Group B alongside Uganda, Ethiopia, and Djibouti, while champions Tanzania are in Group A together with Burundi, Zanzibar, and South Sudan. The Senior Challenge Cup, which was last held in 2017 in Kenya, will take place in Kampala from December 1-19.
Eleven member states have confirmed their participation in the tournament, including hosts and record winners Uganda (14 titles), champions Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Somali, Djibouti, Zanzibar, Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia. Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye stated that three unnamed guest teams are still on standby for the men's tournament.
According to Musonye, the draw and fixtures for the tournament will be released on November 1. He also expressed gratitude to the member states who have accepted to host these events.
