GSU Volleyball Team Ready to Face AP Kenya

Published on October 25, 2019, the seventh leg of the 2019 Kenya Volleyball Federation National league saw GSU emerge victorious in two matches.

GSU, coached by Gideon Tarus, beat Kenya Prisons and Prisons Mombasa in the league played at the Kapsabet Show Grounds in Nandi County.

The team secured a 3-0 win against Prisons Mombasa, with the first set won in 25-7. However, Prisons Mombasa proved to be challenging in the second and third sets, winning 25-17 and 25-22 respectively.

GSU then went on to beat rivals Kenya Prisons in a 3-2 match. Kenya Prisons opened the first set with a 25-23 win, but GSU fought back to take the second set in 33-21.

David Lung'aho's men fought back to win the third set, but GSU made a comeback, winning the fourth and fifth set in 25-16 and 15-9 respectively.

Tarus expressed confidence in his squad, stating that they are ready to face AP Kenya and Equity Bank in today's matches.

'We are ready and our ultimate goal is to retain the title. Kenya Prisons was a strong team but their challenge has helped us prepare well for tomorrow,' Tarus said.

Other matches played in the men's category included Kenya Defence Forces beating AP Kenya 3-2, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) edging Prisons Kenya 3-2, and Equity Bank winning against Prisons Mombasa in 3-2.

Results from the women's category saw KDF win 3-0 against Ashton, but ultimately getting a humiliating 3-0 beating from Kenya Pipeline. Kenya pipeline won 3-0 (25-20, 25-17 and 25-18) against Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
