On October 23, 2019, a tragic incident occurred at Cardinal Otunga Girls High School in Bungoma County, where a Form One student took her own life in the school's dormitory.
The student had allegedly altered her exam results by filling in a fresh exam paper and awarding herself a score of 93 percent before sneaking it into her Geography teacher's desk.
However, her ploy was discovered, and the deputy principal publicly embarrassed her during the school's parade, leaving her feeling humiliated in front of her peers.
Tragically, the student hanged herself with a bedsheet in the dormitory, and her lifeless body was later discovered with a bed sheet tied around the neck.
The school administration declined to comment on the matter, citing the Principal's absence.
The student's body was moved to the Bungoma County Referral Hospital as investigations continue.
