Kenya Harlequins head coach Dominique Habimana is optimistic about the team's chances in the 2019/2020 Kenya Cup season, which kicked off this weekend.
Speaking barely a month after joining the team, Habimana, a Rwanda-born tactician, expressed his confidence in the team's ability to reclaim the Kenya Cup title, last won in 2012.
‘We’re targeting a top two finish this season, which will give us a slot in the play-offs semi-finals and a chance to win the Kenya Cup trophy,’ Habimana explained.
As the team's head coach for the second time, Habimana is hopeful that his charges will win their season campaign opener against Menengai Cream Homeboyz.
‘The boys are well prepared for the match, having tried some new things I introduced to their playing system during the Floodlit tournament. I believe those techniques will come in handy, and my boys will be victorious come Saturday,’ said Habimana.
Quins have not bought new players ahead of the new season, with Habimana promoting young players to the senior squad after trials.
‘Most of our young players are coming through to the senior squad after showing potential and determination in the trials. I believe they’ll add value to the team,’ Habimana said.
