Jose Mourinho's managerial career may be on the verge of a new chapter, with the Portuguese tactician in 'regular contact' with Borussia Dortmund. The former Chelsea boss has been out of the dugout since December last year, when he was axed by Manchester United after a dismal start to the campaign at Old Trafford.

According to German outlet Bild, Mourinho has even started learning German in anticipation of a move to the Westfalenstadion. This development comes as Dortmund's current boss, Lucian Favre, is not understood to be in any immediate jeopardy, despite the German giants making an inconsistent start to the campaign.

However, Dortmund chiefs are looking at the long-term picture, and the chance to challenge Bayern Munich's Bundesliga dominance could be a major draw for Mourinho. Nevertheless, he would be forced to take a significant drop in wages from the £24million-a-year he pocketed at United.

As Dortmund currently sit top of their Champions League group, which contains both Barcelona and Inter Milan, ahead of their trip to the San Siro this evening, Mourinho's interest in the club could be a significant boost for their chances of success.
