On October 23, 2019, the Miss Universe Kenya beauty pageant crowned Stacy Michuki as the winner, with Akothee's daughter, Celly Rue, finishing as the first runner-up.
Celly Rue, whose real name is Aggry Dion Okello, had been engaging her fans on social media to win their votes, sharing videos of herself, including one where she walked the runway in a one-piece swimsuit.
Despite not winning the top spot, Celly Rue's fans were supportive, sending her messages of encouragement on her Instagram page.
“Every step you take is a learning experience.. Thank you all for the support,” Celly Rue wrote on her Instagram page.
Stacy Michuki, the winner, will represent Kenya in the Miss Universe 2019 competitions to be held in December in Seoul, South Korea.
